Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara is one of Africa's Greatest Wildlife reserve and the world most famous game reserve located Southwest of Kenya covering 1,510 sq km. Maasai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 90 species of mammals have been recorded here and over 450 birds species. Some of the famous ones include: lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.
It is in the Maasai Mara that perhaps the most spectacular phenomena event of the natural world takes place -The World Cup of Wildlife. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture in Mid-July - end of October every year. The open grassland savannah with dotted acacia and rolling plains also provides dramatic scenery and the sheer density of wildlife is breathtaking. The reserve is only 5 hours’ drive from the Capital, Nairobi and only 45 Minutes by air.

There is a wide selection of accommodation in Maasai Mara and the conservancies surrounding it. The Conservancies are more private as they have limited vehicles allowed the entry. It is in this reserve that the Big Cats diaries by BBC have been filmed due to the fact that it hold the largest number of big cats than any other parks in the world.
A visit to Maasai Mara is complemented by other amazing activities like visit to indigenous Maasai Village and an early morning hot air balloon safari over the vast grassland - The trip is magical and it will fill you with life time memoir as experience spectacular sunrise afloat. The balloon ends with a Champagne breakfast on an open savannah.
Masai Mara is an all year round destination with the big cats and all game available throughout the reserve.
